SOLOMONS, Md. — A 23-year-old Lexington Park man faces attempted first-degree murder charges after deputies responded to a reported stabbing at the Solomons Island Gazebo on Saturday evening. The incident occurred amid a large crowd gathered for the rescheduled fireworks display.
At approximately 9:22 p.m. on July 5, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a fight involving multiple individuals at the popular waterfront location. While en route, dispatch received information that a person armed with a knife had stabbed another individual. Due to the fireworks event, law enforcement had a strong presence in the area, enabling a swift response.
Deputies located the juvenile victim and immediately provided life-saving medical care. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a regional trauma center for treatment.

Through rapid investigation and coordination, detectives identified the suspect. Devin Allen Miles, 23, of Lexington Park, was located while attempting to flee the scene. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Miles faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office praised the coordinated efforts of deputies and detectives that led to the quick arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
