ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s lacrosse head coach Madison Heck announced the hiring of Emily Ransom as the program’s next full-time assistant coach. Ransom, a Calvert County native, began her duties on July 8.
“We are so excited to have Emily on board. I believe she is going to help elevate this program to new heights. She brings great energy, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for developing our student-athletes,” Heck said. “We’re thrilled to welcome her to the St. Mary’s family.”
Ransom joins the Seahawks after a standout four-year playing career at NCAA Division III Shenandoah University in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The two-time Second Team All-ODAC selection as an attacker appeared in 69 games, starting the final 38. A two-year team captain, she recorded 105 goals and 20 assists for 125 career points, along with 28 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and six draw controls.

Beyond the field, Ransom gained valuable experience as a sports media and communications intern at Shenandoah. She handled live broadcasts for multiple sports, gathered content and photos, and designed game-day graphics to boost team visibility on social media.
A 2022 graduate of The Calverton School in Huntingtown, Ransom was a First Team All-Region selection as a junior and senior. She earned the Coaches Award twice and received the Meagher Award as a senior, recognizing outstanding leadership, integrity, sportsmanship and moral character. Ransom captained the Calverton Cougars from 2019 through 2022.
She graduated from Shenandoah in 2026 with a B.A. in Media and Communications and a B.S. in Public Health.
“I am extremely excited and grateful for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a part of the Seahawk family!” Ransom said.
Ransom’s combination of on-field accomplishments, leadership experience and communications background positions her well to support player development and program growth at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
The Seahawks look forward to building on recent progress with Ransom’s addition to the coaching staff.
