PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The CalvertHealth Foundation is inviting the Southern Maryland community to participate in the 17th Annual CalvertHealth Breast Cancer 5K on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in scenic Solomons Island.
The event features two options: a timed 5K run/walk and a non-competitive 1.5-mile walk, making it accessible for participants of all ages and abilities. The scenic route along the island offers beautiful views while raising awareness and funds for breast cancer care.
Proceeds benefit the Sheldon E. Goldberg Center for Breast Care at the CalvertHealth Cancer Center, which maintains an affiliation with Duke Health. This partnership provides local patients with access to advanced clinical trials, research, and the latest breast health technology—the first multidisciplinary breast center of its kind in Southern Maryland.
“The Breast Cancer 5K is more than a race—it’s a powerful expression of support for patients and families in our community,” said Barry Friedman, chair of the 5K and Foundation Board Chair. “Every step taken and every dollar raised helps bring hope and healing closer to home.”
The morning will include a community warm-up, an inspiring program, and a celebratory awards ceremony with medals for all finishers. Participants are encouraged to run or walk in honor or memory of loved ones touched by breast cancer.
A major highlight this year is a generous sponsorship from Seven Lands and Seas Travel. Every registration includes an entry to win a Viking Cruise valued at up to $10,000. If registrations reach 2,000 by October 1, a second cruise will be added. Winners must be 18 or older and do not need to be present at the event.
Registration details are as follows:
- Early bird rate: $40 per person through September 30
- October 1–16: $50 per person
- Day-of registration: $60 per person
Check-in begins at 7 a.m., with the program starting at 8 a.m. at the Solomons Medical Office Building, 14090 Solomons Island Road.
