FOX 5 DC’s popular Zip Trip summer tour will visit Indian Head on Friday, July 31, marking the only Southern Maryland stop on the 2026 schedule.
The annual event showcases communities across the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area with live broadcasts, interviews with residents and business owners, and highlights of unique local attractions. Indian Head in Charles County will be featured among 20 destinations in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Indian Head, situated along the Potomac River, offers rich military history as a former naval proving ground, waterfront recreation opportunities and small-town charm. The community has been featured in previous Zip Trips, drawing positive attention to local initiatives and businesses.
Past Southern Maryland Zip Trip visits have included stops in La Plata, where the county seat’s downtown revitalization and historic courthouse were highlighted, and in Leonardtown, focusing on its vibrant arts scene and St. Mary’s River waterfront. These visits successfully elevated the profile of the tri-county area and supported local economies.
The July 31 visit to Indian Head will bring FOX 5 anchors and reporters to highlight the town’s Potomac River access, historic landmarks and community initiatives. Viewers can expect segments showcasing what makes Indian Head special and encouraging exploration of the area.
The full 2026 Zip Trip schedule spans Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Southern Maryland residents are encouraged to tune in and support the Indian Head broadcast.
