Banana Ball is bringing its biggest event yet to Washington, D.C., with the league’s first-ever championship game set for Nationals Park on Oct. 10.

The Banana Ball Championship League, the six-team league built around the Savannah Bananas’ viral, entertainment-first take on baseball, announced the inaugural “Banana Bowl” on Tuesday. All six teams will take part regardless of where they land in the regular-season standings — the Savannah Bananas, Firefighters, Party Animals, Texas Tailgaters, Loco Beach Coconuts and Indianapolis Clowns — capping the league’s first season under its new championship format. The league framed the event as tied to America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, describing it as the first time the full “Banana Nation” fanbase will gather together in the nation’s capital. In a social media announcement, the league put it simply: “Six teams. Six casts. One champion. One unforgettable night.”

The night will build toward a “Final Inning Show” billed as the largest musical performance in Banana Ball history, featuring every team’s cast and entirely original music written for the league. Beyond the game itself, organizers say the event will include special guest appearances, surprise moments, unique player entrances and a new arrival experience for fans, though full details haven’t been released. The game will also stream live on Disney+, giving it a broader audience than a typical Banana Ball tour stop.

It’s a return engagement for the Bananas at Nationals Park, where the team sold out the stadium across two nights in June 2025, drawing roughly 40,000 fans. Banana Ball’s blend of choreographed dance routines, acrobatic trick plays and constant fan interaction has turned the format into one of the hottest tickets in baseball-adjacent entertainment since the Savannah Bananas’ rise to national prominence, and the league has continued expanding into major venues, including NFL and MLB stadiums, as it tours the country this season. This year’s full slate has taken the six teams to roughly 75 stadiums across 45 states, including 14 Major League ballparks and 10 football stadiums, as part of the league’s push to grow beyond its Savannah roots into a genuine six-team professional circuit.

Where the six teams stand heading into the Banana Bowl remains unsettled. As of this week, the Texas Tailgaters led the Banana Ball standings, with the Savannah Bananas trailing by just half a game, and the rest of the field still within range with the regular season winding down. Because every team qualifies for the Banana Bowl regardless of record, the standings race is less about qualification and more about seeding and momentum heading into the one-night event — though league officials have said the standings will still determine the tournament’s format once the regular season concludes.

Tickets aren’t on sale yet. Fans hoping to attend must first enter a lottery open through 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at bananabowl26.fansfirsttickets.com. The form requires contact information, allows only one entry per person — duplicate entries will be discarded — and is open only to those 16 or older living in the U.S., Canada or Mexico. The league has not yet released ticket pricing; those selected in the lottery are expected to receive purchase details and updates the day after entries close.
