A Powerball ticket sold in Waldorf is worth $50,000 after the Aug. 19 drawing, Maryland Lottery officials said, with the Charles County player matching four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball for the game’s third-tier prize.
The winning ticket was sold at Korner Liquors, 3120 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. The winning numbers were 10-21-58-61-64, with a Powerball of 17. Had the player matched the fifth white ball instead of the Powerball, the ticket would have been worth $1 million; matching all six numbers would have won the jackpot itself, which nobody claimed in Wednesday’s drawing. Maryland recorded 9,098 other winning tickets in the same drawing, ranging from $4 to $100.
The win comes as Powerball’s jackpot resets after a run to $1.04 billion, won by a single ticket sold in Quincy, Illinois, on Aug. 12 — the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history and the largest of 2026 so far. That winner has the option of the full annuitized prize or a lump-sum payment of roughly $450.5 million, both before taxes. With no ticket matching all six numbers since, the jackpot has climbed back to an estimated $68 million heading into Saturday’s drawing, with a cash option of $29.5 million.
It’s the second time this year a Waldorf resident has landed a $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize on a near-miss ticket. In May, another Charles County player matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball — also on a ticket purchased at Korner Liquors — for the same third-tier prize, part of a run of six-figure and near-six-figure wins for Charles County players in 2026.
Maryland Lottery winners have 182 days from a drawing date to claim their prize; tickets from the Aug. 19 drawing expire Feb. 17, 2027. Powerball drawings are held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m., with a jackpot that starts at $20 million and grows each time it isn’t won. Tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom. Five numbers are drawn from a range of 1 to 69, along with one Powerball number from 1 to 26.
