Calvert County’s Department of Economic Development has launched a new webpage aimed at making it easier for residents and visitors to plan their fall farm outings, pulling pick-your-own produce, corn mazes, farm animals, and other seasonal activities into one place at CalvertAg.com/FarmFallFun.
Activities begin in September, with more added in October and continuing through the season; the county says the page will be updated throughout the fall as new events and details become available, so visitors should check back for current-season dates and pricing at individual farms.
Calvert County’s agritourism scene centers on a handful of working farms that open their fields each fall. Spider Hall Farm in Prince Frederick, a 362-acre family-owned operation on Hallowing Point Road, is one of the county’s best-known destinations, offering a corn maze, hayrides, a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and a farm stand selling local produce, meats, and ice cream from “Mrs. Moo’s Corner.” The farm also houses the county’s Agriculture Education Center, which runs field-trip programs for local schools focused on land and water stewardship.
Horsmon Farm in St. Leonard typically opens for the season in late September and runs through early November, welcoming visitors Friday through Sunday, with special weekend events including an opening Harvest Festival and later-season Halloween programming; the farm also books weekday field trips for school groups by appointment.
Rolling Acres Farm, home to Tettimer’s Produce Stand, offers pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze, a hay maze, a jumping pillow, a petting zoo on select days, giant slides, a pedal-kart track, and a full farm stand — a lineup that has made it one of the more elaborate fall destinations in the county in past seasons.
Rounding out the county’s farm offerings, Swann Farms in Owings specializes in fruits, vegetables, and berries, while Mulberry Hill Farm in Huntingtown leans into a more adult-friendly fall atmosphere with wine tastings and live music alongside kid-focused activities like a bounce house, plus pumpkins and mums at its farm stand.
