Three Charles County students were found in possession of vaping devices containing THC in separate incidents at three different schools over the past week, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sept. 11, a 16-year-old student at La Plata High School was found with seven vaping devices containing THC. Two days earlier, on Sept. 9, a 13-year-old student at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School was found with a THC vape, and a 16-year-old student at Henry E. Lackey High School was found in possession of one as well.
All three students will be charged on juvenile citations with possession of cannabis. Each will also face consequences from Charles County Public Schools under the district’s code of student conduct.
The sheriff’s office urged parents to talk with their children about the risks of these products, noting that vaping devices can contain harmful substances beyond what’s advertised or expected.
