St. Mary’s County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. J. Scott Smith announced an administrative appointment and a transfer approved by the Board of Education at its Sept. 9 meeting.
The Board appointed Christen Ganley as Supervisor of Instruction – Educational Technologies and Media, a 12-month position in the Department of Accountability and Reporting. Ganley holds a master’s degree from Towson University and a bachelor’s degree from Carlow University, and currently serves as an Instructional Resource Teacher at the district’s Virtual Academy. Her appointment takes effect Sept. 14.
The Board was also informed of an administrative transfer: Julia Steele will move from Principal at White Marsh Elementary School to Supervisor of Human Resources in the Department of Human Resources, also a 12-month position. Steele’s transfer will take effect once the district secures a replacement principal at White Marsh Elementary.
The announcement follows the district’s regular pattern of personnel moves through the school year; St. Mary’s County Public Schools serves more than 17,000 students across 27 schools countywide.
