Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) unveiled two first-of-their-kind additions to the national 2027 Girl Scout Cookie® lineup this week: a cookie made just for dogs and the program’s first allergy-friendly cookie.
Patch Pals™, developed with pet company BARK, will be the first Girl Scout cookie created specifically for dogs. The soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored treats come baked with one of four “patch” designs representing classic Girl Scout experiences. Girl Scout Sparkables™, developed with allergy-friendly food company Partake®, is a crunchy oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles, made in a facility designed to avoid the nine major food allergens — giving families managing common allergies a way to take part in cookie season.

Both cookies were developed in response to requests from Girl Scouts around the country who advocated for expanding the lineup to better reflect their communities, according to GSUSA. Unlike classics such as Thin Mints®, Samoas®/Caramel deLites® and Peanut Butter Patties®/Tagalongs®, which are sold both online and at in-person cookie booths, Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables will be available exclusively online for direct shipping, beginning Jan. 12, 2027, alongside the national launch of the 2027 cookie season.
As with all Girl Scout Cookie sales, proceeds stay local to support the councils and troops that sell them, funding activities such as outdoor trips, community service projects, STEM programming and leadership development. GSUSA says the program is designed to teach participating girls skills like goal setting, decision making, money management and business ethics along the way.
Southern Maryland’s Girl Scout troops fall under the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council, which serves the region alongside other parts of the mid-Atlantic. Last year’s cookie season introduced Exploremores, a rocky-road-inspired sandwich cookie, as the program’s newest addition; local cookie booth dates and specific product availability for the 2027 season will be set by the regional council closer to January.
Girl Scout Cookie season runs nationally from January through April, though exact local dates vary by council. Anyone interested in being notified when the season begins can sign up at girlscoutcookies.org or text “Cookies” to 59618 for updates.
