A White Plains man died Sunday night after the vehicle he was driving left Billingsley Road and struck a tree, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to the 8400 block of Billingsley Road around 8:20 p.m. Sept. 14 for a reported crash. A preliminary investigation found that Daniel Corbett Wagner, 41, of White Plains, was driving westbound on Billingsley Road when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. EMS personnel responded, but Wagner was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CCSO’s Traffic Operations Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Griffith at 301-609-3514.
Billingsley Road has been the site of other serious crashes in recent years, including a 2016 collision at its intersection with St. Charles Parkway that killed a Mechanicsville woman after a vehicle failed to yield while turning.
