As Halloween creeps up, Marylanders are looking for haunted attractions across the state to get their frightening fix.
Located in Aberdeen, Md., Legends of the Fog is a longtime community favorite.
“We’ve been around for 20 years now,” said Patrick Barberry, general manager and co-owner. “We’re seeing multigenerations of families that keep coming back every year to see whatever we’ve created that’s new and to see some of their favorites.”
There’s no scare-city of these places in Maryland.

Aberdeen
Dates: Sept. 26 – Nov. 7
Cost: $20 – $70
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 10 and up. Minors under 14 need a chaperone.
Why you should go: An “all-in-one scream park,” this attraction has a hayride, corn maze, and haunted hotel. Nov. 6th and 7th are “blackout nights,” where you navigate the haunted attractions with only the light of a glowstick.
Flintstone
Dates: Sept. 25 – Oct. 31
Cost: $16 – $22
Family-friendly?: At parent’s discretion for children, discounted tickets for children ages 12 and under.
Why you should go: The Shady Rest Haunt focuses on storytelling and a fully immersive experience. They “allow their actors to act” and encourage their guests “to take their time” enjoying the months of preparation that goes into creating the costumes, props and scenes.
Frederick
Dates: Oct. 3 – Oct. 31
Cost: $20 – $30
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Why you should go: The Kindred Hills forest is described as frozen in time. Visitors walk through the forest, encounter mysterious spirits and explore abandoned buildings. Kindred Hills also offers a daytime trick-or-treat option for children to experience the trail in the daylight while getting treats along the way.
Baltimore
Dates: Oct. 2 – Nov. 1
Cost: $26 – $70
Family-friendly?: Visitors must be at least four feet tall to enter, children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian that is 18 or older.
Why you should go: The Nevermore Haunt is located in the heart of Baltimore and is inspired by the city’s past. The walk-through haunted house draws from the works of Edgar Allan Poe and is heavily influenced by Baltimore history.
Galena
Dates: Oct. 3 – Nov. 7
Cost: $55 – $80
Family-friendly?: Not recommended for children under 10 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 or older.
Why you should go: 301 Devil’s Playground has five haunted attractions, such as a “house of hell,” and a “barn of torture.” There’s also music, food and entertainment for when guests aren’t in one of the attractions.
6. ACT Black Box Haunted House
Hagerstown
Dates: Oct. 23 – Oct. 31
Cost: $17.30 – $22.55
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 13 and up.
Why you should go: ACT Black Box Haunted House was voted “Haunt of the Year” in 2025 by marylandhauntedhouse.com. The Black Box Studio hosts live theatre events in addition to the haunted house experience.
7. Leech Woods
Damascus
Dates: Oct. 2 – Nov. 1
Cost: $40 – $75
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 12 and up.
Why you should go: Leech Woods includes an immersive haunted trail experience “of dark terror” and a “horror hayride”. New this year is something called “clown carnage.”
Laurel
Dates: Sept. 19 – Nov. 7
Cost: $30 – $55
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 13 and up. Children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.
Why you should go: Laurel’s House of Horror is built inside an abandoned movie theater and promises “the kind of adrenaline rush you won’t find anywhere else.” It offers a haunted house, escape room and paranormal tours.
Dickerson
Dates: Oct. 2 – Nov. 8
Cost: $25 – $80
Family-friendly? Recommended for ages 12 and up.
Why you should go: Markoff’s Haunted Forest includes both a haunted trail and town. The spirit of the trail spills over into a “cursed village”, where a DJ keeps the vibes going all night long.
10. Bennett’s Curse Haunted House
Dundalk
Dates: Sept. 25 – Nov. 7
Cost: $35 – $55
Family-friendly?: Recommended for ages 10 and up. Minors under 15 need a chaperone.
Why you should go: For more than 25 years, Bennett’s Curse Haunted House has been terrifying thrill-seekers and “pushing the limits of fear.” Bennett’s Curse has a “house of the demons,” crypts and an asylum.
