ST. MARY’S CITY — St. Mary’s College of Maryland sophomore Brendan Mannion opened his season with three individual wins and a relay victory, and the Atlantic East Conference noticed.

The conference named Mannion its Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Oct. 26, the first weekly honor of his career, SMCM Athletics announced. He is the first Atlantic East men’s swimmer of the week for the 2026-27 season.

Mannion, a 5-foot-11 sophomore from West Chester, Pa., who swam at Unionville High School, did his damage in the Seahawks’ Oct. 25 double-dual meet hosted by Batten University. St. Mary’s College opened the season with two lopsided wins, beating Batten 219-38 and Randolph College 217-43.

His fastest swim of the day was also his best ever. Mannion won the 200-yard freestyle in a personal-best 1:46.27. He added wins in two more events and led off the winning medley relay:

50 freestyle1st21.74
200 individual medley1st1:59.94
400 medley relay (leadoff)1st3:39.37

The range of that line is what stands out: a 50-yard sprint, a 200-yard middle-distance race and the individual medley, which requires all four strokes. The sub-two-minute 200 IM and the sub-22-second 50 freestyle came in the same meet as his career-best 200 freestyle.

The award continues a run of weekly honors for St. Mary’s men’s swimmers in the Atlantic East. The Seahawks finished second at last season’s conference championships, a meet in which the team set five school records in a single session.

The women’s team also opened 2-0 at the same meet, sweeping Batten and Randolph.
