Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has announced several significant leadership appointments and transfers set to take effect on July 1, impacting elementary, middle, and high schools. These changes include one executive level appointment, five principal or coordinator appointments, and eight assistant principal appointments, all of which were approved by the Board of Education on May 21.
Executive Appointment
Erica Williams has been appointed as the Executive Director of Schools in the CCPS Office of School Administration and Leadership. Williams, who is currently the principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, will replace the retiring Linda Gill, Ed.D.
Principal/Coordinator Appointments
- Caroline Burke will become the principal at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School. Burke is currently an assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School.
- Corey Dobbins will serve as the principal at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center. He is currently an assistant principal at North Point High School.
- Courtney Hrobak has been appointed as principal at Eva Turner Elementary School. Hrobak is presently a community schools coordinator with Frederick County Public Schools.
- Marquelle Peavy will be the acting principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. Peavy is currently an assistant principal at Stoddert.
- Ashley Valenzuela-Carrington will take on the role of coordinator for the Early Learning Center in Waldorf, which is scheduled to open in August 2024. She is currently an assistant principal at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School.
Assistant Principal Appointments
- Tamara Barnes has been appointed assistant principal at T.C. Martin Elementary School. Barnes is currently an instructional resource teacher at the same school.
- LoWanda Buck will become the assistant principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. She is presently an administrative intern at Mattawoman Middle School.
- Kristen DeMaranville will serve as the assistant principal at La Plata High School. DeMaranville is currently an administrative intern at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School.
- Tyler Gerber will join North Point High School as an assistant principal. He is currently an assistant principal with Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
- Jasmine Law has been appointed as the assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School. Law is currently a data coach with Prince George’s County Public Schools.
- Sylvia Royster will be the assistant principal at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School. Royster currently serves as the CCPS director of community engagement and equity.
- Lauren Stephenson will join Arthur Middleton Elementary School as an assistant principal. She is currently an assistant principal with Prince William County Public Schools.
- Natalie Williams-Cole will be the assistant principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School. She is currently the administrative intern at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center.
Administrative Transfers
In addition to the new appointments, several administrative transfers will also take effect on July 1 for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Louis D’Ambrosio will move from his role as principal at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center to principal at Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School.
- Brian King, Ed.D., will transition from principal at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School to principal at Margaret Jamieson Thornton Elementary School, which is set to open in August 2025 in White Plains.
- Jennifer Elder will move from assistant principal at T.C. Martin Elementary School to assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School.
- Ryan Erickson has been named assistant principal at North Point High School.
- Paige Hickman will transition from assistant principal at Henry E. Lackey High School to assistant principal at Theodore G. Davis Middle School.
- Laura Hindsley will move from her role at North Point High School to assistant principal at Westlake High School.
- Erin Kaple will transfer from Westlake High School to assistant principal at St. Charles High School.
- William Skallerup will move from Arthur Middleton Elementary School to assistant principal at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School.
- Twanna Taylor will transition from Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School to assistant principal at J.P. Ryon Elementary School.
- Cory Underwood will move from La Plata High School to assistant principal at Henry E. Lackey High School.
