WALDORF, Md. — A vehicle fire caused an estimated $14,000 in damages Sunday morning in the parking lot of a business on Smallwood Road West in Waldorf, Charles County.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:52 a.m. when a passerby discovered a truck ablaze behind the building at 1306 Smallwood Road West. The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded promptly with a team of four firefighters, bringing the fire under control in 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was confined to the vehicle, identified as belonging to Shawn Ford. The estimated losses include $10,000 for the structure of the vehicle and an additional $4,000 in contents.

Smoke alarms and fire sprinklers were not applicable in this incident, as the fire occurred outdoors.

The cause of the fire, which originated in the truck bed, remains under investigation.
