José Ballesteros Publishes Anthology of Latinx Poetry

José Ballesteros, Steven Muller Distinguished Professor of the Arts, published the first anthology of Latinx poetry of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. ?The anthology, “Knocking on the Door of the White House,” was curated and co-edited by Ballesteros and showcases the work of more than 20 D.C.-based poets and numerous translators.

The anthology includes the translation work of alumna María Mateo ’17. In December, Beltway Poetry Journal placed “Knocking on the Door of the White House” on their Top 4 Anthologies of 2017 list. It is the second publication in a row by Ballesteros to land on Beltway Poetry’s must read lists.
