LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS), in our continuing efforts to work collaboratively with our community, will be hosting a community information night to discuss our mutual interest in keeping our students and schools safe. This event will take place on February 15, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, located at 24005 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD. Space is limited and registration is required and the link can be found at http://www.smcps.org/safety-and-security.

Information will be provided by SMCPS, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department, the Maryland Center for School Safety, and other community resources. We will be discussing proactive strategies to keep our schools safe and secure. Topics to be discussed will include substance misuse prevention, the impact of social media, fighting in schools, and youth gang intervention and prevention.
