Lusby, MD: At 1:47 p.m. on April 9, 2018, the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department were alerted to a 1 1/2 story structure fire on Golden West Way. Upon arrival the fire department discovered a small fire on the deck that the owner tried to extinguish unsuccessfully. The fire extended to the home and caused approximately $170,000 worth of damage.
The family was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross. One occupant was injured(non-life threatening), and two firefighters sustained minor burns. All were treated and released. It is unknown if the smoke alarm activated.
