It’s time to get those dancing shoes out for an evening of fun and entertainment! An exciting line-up of events is scheduled for May 4th including the return of theChesapeake Swingbandfor their annualconcert in Downtown Leonardtown. Be ready to jitterbug, waltz, and boogie-woogie the night away from 6-8 PM! All levels welcome, just join in!

New for thisyear will bea much anticipated Dance Flash Mob organized bylocal performer extraordinaireand event organizer Taryn Brown.FindTaryn & Friendson The Square starting around 6:30 PM – as the band takes a break the audience can keep moving to the music, clickherefor additional details. If you are interested in dancing within a circumstantial role, email: tarbroarts@gmail.com and arehearsal schedule will be sent to you, or just show up and join in!

Throughout town art studios, shops, and restaurants will be open from 5-8 PM with several galleries hostingOpening Receptions for their new shows and featured artists. A brand new “Art Share” series for First Fridays will debut with local poet (and Professor Emeritus of St. Mary’s College of Maryland)Michael Glaser who will be presenting from 5:30-6:30 PM at St. Mary’s County Arts Council, visitherefor more info. Also planned are pet adoption opportunities atHome Elementsin partnership withSecond Hope Rescueas well as festivities beyond Downtown Leonardtown (check out the weekend music schedule atPort of Leonardtown Winery!)

Stay around for the audience participation Drum Circle featuring theSoMar Drummersfrom 8-9 PM at the grassy field right next to theArts Council building and across from Winegardner Motor Company. Limited seating will be available but feel free to bring a lawn chair, instruments provided or bring your own, all ages and skill levels are welcome.
