Prince Frederick, MD – Calvert Hospice is pleased to provide educational seminars to our community. Attendees will learn about topics that impact end-of-life care for patients and their families. Sessions are designed to encourage group discussion. Our next seminar is entitled “Hospice, Palliative Care, and Bereavement, Oh My!” and will be held on July 10, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Calvert Hospice will provide refreshments. The seminar is free.

The location for this educational seminar will be SpringHill Suites (75 Sherry Lane) in Prince Frederick.

Presenters: Kara Rawlings, RN, BSN, CHPN, Director of Clinical Operations for Calvert Hospice, and Amy Szatanek, LCSW, ACHP-SW, Director of Patient & Family Services for Calvert Hospice

Ms. Rawlings and Ms. Szatanek will discuss the similarities and differences between hospice and palliative care. Hospice is an essential option when we think about making choices for personalized care throughout the end of life, but what is this new thing called palliative care? Why choose one program over the other, and how does one go about accessing them? The presenters will also discuss bereavement services, how to help people who have lost someone, and how we can care for ourselves after a loss.
