Fredericksburg, Va. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s soccer team claimed both of the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for the week of October 1. Sophomore Alex Moody (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) picked up the Offensive Player of the Week honor while senior captain Katie Flores (Towson, Md./Towson) earned the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Garnering her first-ever CAC award, Moody netted three of St. Mary’s four goals as the Seahawks posted a 2-0 week. The 5-6 forward started the week by converting her first career penalty kick for the game-winning goal in a 1-0 double overtime win over The Catholic University of America.

She then notched two goals, including the game-winner, as St. Mary’s tallied a 3-1 CAC-opening win at Southern Virginia University. Moody is currently tied for sixth in the CAC with four goals and tied for seventh with nine points.

Flores posted a 0.45 goals against average and 0.923 save percentage for St. Mary’s this past week. She recorded her second shutout of the season with six saves against Catholic and then picked up six more stops in a 3-1 road win over Southern Virginia.

The 5-7 goalkeeper currently ranks second in the conference with an 0.807 save percentage.

The Seahawks (6-5) will be back in action on Wednesday, October 3, traveling to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to face Virginia Wesleyan University in non-conference action at 5:00 p.m.
