Waldorf, MD- Due to heavy precipitation, and inflow and infiltration (I and I), and with over 4” of rain in the area, on October 12, 2018, we experienced an overflow of untreated raw wastewater of approximately one million gallons from several manholes adjacent to Mattawoman Creek in the area of the Mattawoman Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The overflow was discovered at 7:45 a.m., and the Department of Public Works/Utilities stopped the overflow at about 1:30 p.m.. Notices have been posted along Mattawoman Creek and residents are cautioned to avoid contact with the creek.
