La Plata, MD- On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 9-1-1 was alerted to a two story single family home on fire.  Forty Firefighters from the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department responded and had the blaze under control in 15 minutes. The fire was found by the resident.

The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the blaze and the preliminary report lists the area of origin as a workshop attached to the residence. The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. The State Fire Marshal lists the estimated loss at $350,000.00. The report also states there were no injuries involved with this incident.
