Fredericksburg, Va. – Senior captain Marissa Dangler (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) landed on the 2018 All-Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Team as announced Tuesday morning by Assistant Commissioner Tim Mowrer. Danglergarnered a second-team All-CAC selection for her first-ever postseason award.

Dangler concludes her collegiate career as a first-time all-star. The 5-2 libero/defensive specialist was the heart of the Seahawk defense. She notched a dozen matches with 20-plus digs, including two with 30 or more. Dangler tallied a career-best 35 digs in a five-set loss to Randolph College on October 6.
She was second in the conference with 539 digs while ranking fifth with 4.61 digs per set. As a team, the Seahawks ranked second in the league with 1,897 digs and fifth with 15.42 digs per game.

On October 12, Dangler collected her 1,500 career dig at Randolph-Macon College. She finishes her career with 1,654 digs (4.27 digs/set) in 111 matches (387 sets) played. The two-year team captain also added 128 assists, 101.5 points, 84 service aces, and 16 kills.
St. Mary’s finished this season with a 14-18 (1-6 CAC) overall record, which was an 11-game improvement from last year’s win total. The Seahawks were the No. 8 seed in the 2018 CAC Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament.
