News Release, Town of La Plata

Jeanine Harrington, AICP, has been promoted to the position of Director of Planning for the Town of La Plata. Ms. Harrington has been employed with the Town for four years as the Senior Planner. In her new role as Director, Ms. Harrington will be responsible for the overall operation of the Planning Department. The Director provides responsible and complex leadership to demonstrate communication, problem solving, and coordination of municipal planning, inspections, engineering, and enforcement tasks with multi-department cooperation.

The position is responsible for research and evaluation as part of strategic planning and will represent the Town to other agencies and organizations to develop partnerships to further the Comprehensive Plan and related planning policy documents. “It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Jeanine Harrington to the position of Planning Director,” Town Manager Brent Manuel said. “Jeanine has proven herself to be a valuable member of the town staff, and we look forward to her continuing with the town in the director position.”

Ms. Harrington was raised in St. Mary’s County and is a graduate of Frostburg State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning. In December of 2017, she became a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). “I am grateful for this opportunity and I offer my commitment to improve the services we provide to the Town’s residents and business community.”

Ms. Harrington will begin her new role on 21 January 2019.
