ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball player Spencer Schultz has been selected as the December Student-Athlete of the Month. This is Schultz’s first student-athlete of the month honor at St. Mary’s.

The Department of Athletics & Recreation executive team selects the Student-Athlete of the Month awardee each month.

The junior guard from Clear Spring, Maryland guided the Seahawks to a 4-1 record in the month of December. He paced the squad averaging 23.2 points per game and recorded a career best 30 points against Greensboro on Dec. 17. Schultz continued his strong month with double-doubles against York (N.Y.) and William Peace. In addition, Schultz was named the CAC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks from Dec. 10 – Dec. 23.

Schultz currently leads the CAC in scoring, knocking down 20.1 points per game. He is second in the league in field goal percentage, sinking 62 percent of his attempts and is third in the conference with 7.6 rebounds per game.

The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team (7-10, 1-5 CAC) will be back in action tomorrow night (Jan. 23) for an away contest at Penn State Harrisburg (10-7, 2-4 CAC). Opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
