Andrew Cognard-Black of the St. Mary’s College department of sociology recently was elected by the National Collegiate Honors Council membership to serve on the board of directors. Selected from a slate of 10 nominees, he will fill one of three vacant seats on the Council’s board beginning this month.

The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) is the professional association for researchers, faculty, and administrators who work to provide honors programming to over 300,000 students at nearly 900 member colleges and universities around the United States and internationally. Cognard-Black also serves on the Council’s publications board as well as its research committee.

Cognard-Black’s three-year term on the board begins immediately and continues until 2021. He will travel later this week to the Council’s winter board meeting in Chicago. Cognard-Black is joined on the board by David Jones, professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and Leah Creque, director of honors at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
