“I love shoes and got tired going all over the DMV trying to find a nice shoe store or shopping for shoes online. After I retired as an RN for 30 years with the government, I wanted to open a boutique for women where they could sit in a nice environment and know the shoe fits their foot.
The store opened in May of this year after two years of starting this process. I took some small business courses at The College of Southern Maryland and attended an entrepreneurial boot camp for veterans at Florida State. After that preparation, we started attending shoe trade shows to meet the vendors and different shoe companies.
There was a lot of paperwork, regulations, permits and trying to find an affordable location. I really wanted a local spot.”
