YORK, Pa. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s tennis team (5-10, 3-3 CAC) took down Conference foe York College (7-7, 1-4 CAC) with a score of 5-4 on Sunday (Apr. 7) afternoon.

St. Mary’s – 5, York – 4

Doubles –

  • Jon Gorel and Ethan Garren teamed back up to defeat York’s number one duo in Joel Hess and Sam Innerst with an 8-4 score.  
  • Jacob Bartholow and Jack Brandenburg won their doubles match as they took down Tyler Richard and Justin Rose with a score of 8-6.

Singles –

  • Gorel improved to 11-3 on the year playing in the number one spot for the Seahawks by defeating York’s Ben Sentz with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
  • Sam Sheats would need three sets to take down York’s Lukas Olsonbut did so by winning with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
  • Brandenburg clinched the team win for the Seahawks as he won his singles match against York’s Josiah Forry 6-1, 6-4.
