Clinton, MD- Join us in saluting fifteen-year volunteer Georgia Dickerson, on logging more than 1,500 hours at MedStar Southern Maryland! Lifelong Prince George’s County resident Georgia Dickerson has a simple philosophy that has guided her through her eighty-one years: helping people is a way of life, and it helps you in the process.

“I enjoy being here,” says Dickerson. “I find it rewarding to give back tothe community. I’ve been retired from the District Government since 1996 and being out and about among people keeps you going. Volunteering is rewarding for me because I like people, I like interacting with them.”

Dickerson has worked at our front desk greeting visitors, in dietary assembling snack bags, in cardiac rehab pulling folders of patients and watching them on their journey to recovery, and now, as a volunteer in Labor and Delivery, helping secure the unit and make sure the men she warmly recounts as “intensely hyped, excited fathers” buzz in to visit their partners and newborn children.

Thank you, Georgia, for reaching the impressive milestone at our hospital! We appreciate your dedicated service to our patients and visitors.
