Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe scored two goals on two penalty kicks to lead the United States into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Spain. Rapinoe scored her first in just the seventh minute, but Spain equalized immediately on a goal by Jennifer Hermoso.

The score remained deadlocked well into the second half before Spain was called for a foul in the box. VAR confirmed the penalty, and Rapinoe scored the game-winner in the 75th minute.

The United States will face France in the quarterfinals in Paris on Friday.
