News Release, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office

Leonardtown, MD– Leadership Southern Maryland’s Teen Leadership Academy visited the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, learning about the various operations and functions of the agency.

The 19 students from Southern Maryland, who are entering 10th, 11th and 12th grades, visited the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, heard presentations and saw demonstrations by the Special Operations Division.

Leadership Southern Maryland educates and inspires a diverse group of current and emerging leaders creating opportunities for collaborations and partnerships impacting the community needs of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.

The Teen Leadership Academy is designed to teach and develop those skills in a hands-on, experiential program with workshops and visits to meet with regional leaders in their workplaces throughout Southern Maryland.
