One of my favorite places to eat (and hang out) is Rucci’s in White Plains. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch! Owned by Bobby and Diana Rucci, the restaurant has garnered a large following of regulars! Rucci’s still has their original deli and they do a robust carryout business, but I love to eat in!

When you walk in the door you will see the large, U-shaped bar they added about 18 months ago. I usually eat at the bar because I love the warm, welcoming feeling and the great bartenders! Jo Ann and Ashley are friendly, fun, and mix the best drinks! Of note, Bobby has assembled a collection of over 100 bourbons. For bourbon enthusiasts, ask to see Bobby’s Bourbon Collection book for details. There are Happy Hour Bar specials from 3:30-6:30 on Tuesdays through Fridays. In addition to beer, wine, and liquor specials, they offer $5 Naked Burger and Fries on Tuesdays, on Wednesdays they have $5 Steamship Beef and Fries, and on Thursdays, they have $5 Personal Pizza with 2 toppings. All three of these don’t disappoint!

A great time to go is for Sunday brunch! From 10am-1pm, you can select from the breakfast/brunch menu. My go-to breakfast is a scrambled egg, crispy bacon and a slice of toast. I know…not very exciting…but it’s just the right amount for me! The omelets are fabulous! A couple of popular ones are the Crab Omelet and the Shrimp Omelet. Most Sundays you will find Bobby making the omelets and the eggs…it’s obvious he’s in his happy place! Other favorite brunch items for diners include the “The Boss’s Breakfast Bomb”, which is home fries topped with scrambled eggs and pepperoni, then smothered with Italian sausage gravy and served with toast; the Eggs Benedict; and the Crab Benedict. A recent brunch addition is Chicken and Waffles. I’ve had it before and it’s a fluffy waffle with crispy chicken tenders; this combination with maple syrup is so tasty!

The Boss’s Breakfast Bomb

During the week (and after 1 pm on Sundays) they have a variety of lunch and dinner options. Their Italian specialties are delicious. The meatballs are huge and baked to perfection! The pizzas are hand-tossed and popular. For lunch I love the BLT; it has so much bacon…yum! My philosophy is the more bacon the better! Another great sandwich is the Reuben, a traditional offering piled high with corned beef. The chicken salad, tuna salad, and shrimp salad are favorites too. Sometimes I get a small bowl of shrimp salad and a small bowl of Caprese salad. The subs are popular, full, and have interesting names. Another favorite of mine (as you can see, I have many favorites) is the pound of Sautéed Shrimp for $14.95. The shrimp is cooked perfectly and is served with a remoulade sauce. This was their Thursday special price, but for the summer, the price is the same every day.

In addition to the menu, Chef Will, who oversees the kitchen, creates memorable lunch and dinner specials! And in the winter, he makes the best soups around! I’m not a big soup person, but I love his soups!!

And they aren’t just busy putting out great food; they have recently been doing some work on the inside of the restaurant. After adding the bar, they enclosed a porch and transformed it into a beautiful, warm-feeling dining room, and then more recently, added a patio.

From the servers in the dining rooms to the kitchen staff, everyone is friendly and welcoming! Most have become friends. It’s kind of like being Norm from Cheers…everybody knows your name!
