I just went to Spoon’s BBQ and it was delicious! Spoon’s, billed as a Korean and American BBQ, has some exciting things going on…new menu items and the recent addition of a patio!

What did I eat, you ask? My friends and I ordered several dishes. We started with the Mandu (crispy fried dumplings with a sweet soy sauce) and the Banchan Sampler (samples of Korean sides). My favorites of the Banchan are the cucumbers, the radish, and the broccoli salad. If you are a fan of Kimchi (which I am not), I’ve been told it’s fantastic.

Hannah (the owner) brought out a couple of the new menu items for me to try…the Seared Ahi Tuna and the Fried Crab Mac & Cheese Bites. I’m not a seared tuna fan, but what she brought out was fabulous! It was crusted with sesame seeds and prepared to perfection! It wasn’t fishy and the sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The Fried Crab Mac & Cheese Bites had crab in them and on top! They were crabby and cheesy!

We also got a few other things to share…Beef Bulgogi, Shrimp Fried Rice and Fusion Shrimp Soft Tacos. The bulgogi is my absolute, absolute (that means I really love it) favorite! The steak is tender, and the flavor is amazing! Everything was so good!! The Fusion Tacos can be made with shrimp, beef bulgogi, pulled pork or chicken. We all loved the tacos and fried rice! The fried rice has a “yo-yo” sauce on it, and that sauce was so good.

They also have delicious American BBQ dishes…Baby Back Ribs, Pork BBQ, and Battered Fried Fish. These all pair well with sides like Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, and Sweet Potato Fries. My daughter loves the Corn Fritters; they are dusted with powdered sugar! Yum!

When you are there, check out their self-pour draft beer selections! They have many local craft beers. You put money on a card, then you pour as much or as little as you want. There are chilled beer glasses in a cooler. They also have other beer, wine and alcohol selections.

They have Weekly Events…$2.50 Chicken Tacos on Tuesdays, Team Trivia on Wednesdays, Kid’s Night on Thursdays, Karaoke Night on Fridays, and All Day Happy Hour on Sundays. See my pictures for more details.

Stop by and try out the new menu and patio!

Spoon’s is located at 234 Rosewick Road in LaPlata.

Their hours are Tuesday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-2am, and Sunday 11am-8pm.
