News Release, College of Southern Maryland

The College of Southern Maryland’s women’s soccer team opened their 2019 season with an 8-1 loss against the Union County College Owls on August 30.

Sophomore midfielder Rowan Wright scored the lone goal for the Hawks in the 68th minute of the contest.

Sophomore goalie Camille Cooley had 13 saves in the game.

The Owls controlled the ball and the tempo of the game for the majority of this contest. CSM struggled to consistently combine passes and keep the ball out of their defensive half of the field.

Head coach Nina Duron said the most important thing her team needs to work on before their next game is “working on our zonal defending and transitioning into the defense, and what to do once we win the ball.”

The Hawks’ next game is September 10 against the Montgomery College Raptors.
