Mechanicsville, MD– On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at 2:39 p.m. the St. Mary’s County 9-1-1 dispatch was alerted to a structure fire on Grandiflora Court.

The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department(MVFD) responded with 30 personnel and discovered a one-story single-family home on fire. The MFVD attacked the fire and had it under control in approximately 35 minutes. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called out to investigate.

The Fire Marshal’s report states the cause of the fire which originated on the exterior of the residence, remains under investigation at this time.  Both occupants escaped the residence without injury, however, the family dog perished in the fire.  The occupants are being assisted by other family members and friends.

The estimte damage to structure and contents is $375,000.00.
