Lexington Park, MD- On Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, more than 20 young people attended a First Responders Youth Initiative at the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad and Bay District Volunteer Fire Department in Lexington Park.

The event showed teenagers the multiple opportunities they have to serve the community from a first-responder perspective, with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, the St. Mary’s County Health Department, Maryland State Police, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, the St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services, the St. Mary’s County branch of the NAACP and the Elijah International Foundation presenting.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office demonstrated its K-9 Unit, drone operations, and Emergency Services Team equipment.
