Coltons Point, MD- The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Dukehart’s Creek Road in Colton’s Point, MD this morning for a report that a wanted sex offender was at the residence.
Philip Farrell, 31 of Coltons Point, MD was listed late last week as wanted for failing to register as a sex offender. A tip came in that Farrell was at this address. Police showed up this morning in an attempt to get Farrell to turn himself in.
Farrell refused to leave the premise and police were forced to get a search warrant. At least six officers were present and were heard speaking through a megaphone asking Farrell to turn himself in. At one point Farrell showed himself, either through a window or came out onto the porch, and police were able to visually verify he was there.
Officers were seen with a sledgehammer, long guns, and bulletproof vests.
At 1:00 p.m., Officers entered the home and arrested Farrell. At this time it is not clear whether the search warrant was granted and executed or if Farrell just gave up and turned himself in.
This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is released by the PIO for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
