LONG BEACH, Calif. – To kick off the new year the St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing team traveled to Long Beach, California for the 2020 Rose Bowl this past weekend (Jan. 4-5). The Seahawks took second in both divisions which led to a second-place overall finish.

How it Happened

  • National Champion, Leo Boucher and senior sailor Ashley Wagner competed in Division A for this event totaling 38 points for the Seahawks. Boucher and Wagner finished just eight points behind Georgetown in the division.
  • Junior sailors, Lewis Cooper and Sophia Taczak competed in Division B for St. Mary’s College and recorded 36 points in nine races. The Georgetown Hoyas proved to be the Seahawks’ biggest competition in this regatta as they placed first over St. Mary’s College by only two points in Division B.
