UPDATE 7:42 p.m.- Mechanicsville Road at Cox Drive is now reopened in all directions per SMCSO.

UPDATE 7:27 p.m. According to the Facebook of the Mechancsivlle VFD, the horse and buggy were not occupied; it had gotten loose. The occupants of the vehicle refused EMS care.

Expect delays as the scene is cleared and traffic clears.

Mechanicsville, MD- At approx. 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, January 9. 2020, the St. Mary’s 9-1-1 dispatch was notified of a motor vehicle crash on Mechanicsville Road in the area of Cox Drive. The crash is reported to be a van and a horse-drawn buggy. The road is currently closed per SMCSO.

Social Media reports are stating a long back up on Mechanicsville Road.

Watch for emergency vehicles and personnel, and also expect extensive delays.
