FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2020 women’s lacrosse season. St. Mary’s College sophomore defender Stephanie Heffron claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Heffron led the Seahawk defensive unit that led the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s lacrosse team to a 1-1 record this past week. The Seahawks fell to No. 10 Catholic 8-6 on Wednesday (Feb. 26) and defeated Dickinson 11-10 on Saturday (Feb. 29) at the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Heffron caused eight turnovers, gathered eight draw controls, and collected eight ground balls between two games. All three stat totals led the Seahawks.

The Seahawk women’s lacrosse team currently has a 4-1 record and will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 7 when they travel to Shenandoah for a 4:00 p.m. game.
