LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools Department of Food and Nutrition Services is offering meals to students through the Summer Meals Program. Acceptance and participation requirements for the Program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:

Beginning March 17-27, 2020, drive-up lunch service will be provided at the locations listed below from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Meals will be offered to all children age 18 years of age and under free of charge. Parents and children can drive up to these locations and receive meals that they can take home during our current school closures. We are asking community members to remain in their vehicles until they are directed to retrieve their meals from the designated area. There will be St. Mary’s County personnel to direct service.

Charles County

Charles County Public Schools is offering free breakfast and lunch for all children 18 and younger while the school system is closed from March 16 to 27.

The curbside distribution of breakfast packs and cold, bagged lunches will take place at eight sites:

  • Henry E. Lackey High School;
  • Maurice J. McDonough High School;
  • St. Charles High School;
  • Westlake High School;
  • Milton M. Somers Middle School;
  • Indian Head Elementary School;
  • Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School and
  • J.P. Ryon Elementary School.

The outdoor distribution is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, rain or shine. CCPS food and nutrition employees will staff each location.

Unlike the summer meals program, Lunch on Us, the food cannot be consumed at the distribution sites, however, children must be present to receive the meals.

  Each child present will receive one bagged lunch which can include items such as a cold cut sandwich, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, milk, and juice. The child can also pick up one shelf-stable breakfast pack for the following morning that has cereal, crackers, and juice.
