Our Monday Spotlight is shining brightly on Kathryn Russell of Kathryn’s Crafty Cakes!

Kathryn literally “takes the cake” with her many talents and whole-hearted generosity! On April 1st, 2020 she delivered an astonishing 26 DOZEN custom made cookies to the doctors, nurses, and staff at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown. That meant312scrumptious treats, all lovingly created at her locally based Hollywood, MD licensed commercial kitchen.

This gift was made possible by donations by Kathryn herself and also through the kindness of her friends, family, customers, and in some cases complete strangers who contributed to the cause and purchased a dozen, or two, or three to be included in the delivery.

The boxes upon boxes (literally!) of generous gifts were transported just down the road where the medical staff have been working tirelessly to care for our community during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Our dedicated hospital employees are truly deserving of an act of kindness which was made possible by Kathryn and the many others who participated.

Mrs. Russell is a small business owner who has been creatively decorating cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and more for over sixteen years now. Her artistry is rooted in colorful and oh-so-tasty custom designs including orders both small and large and everywhere in between. Kathryn is also a proud Navy wife and mother of a 9-year-old son and 8-month-old baby girl. We are so very fortunate to have her and many other local artists who selflessly have given of their time and talents during these difficult times.

Shine on Kathryn, thank you for your kindness and also to the many others who bought cookies for this delightful delivery, you are all amazing!
