Leonardtown, MD- In a directive issued this morning by the St. Mary’s County Health Department(SMCHD), and signed by Health Officer Dr. Meenakshi Garg Brewster, all customers of grocery stores, pharmacies, retail establishments, and on public transportation to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

All customers over the age of two-years-old are required to wear facemasks in the above-mentioned locations. Cloth face masks are permitted.

The above-mentioned establishments are to also provide limits on the number of customers allowed in their establishment at one time and to promote social distancing. They are also directed to provide employees with a break to wash their hands at a minimum of every thirty minutes. Businesses must provide access to clean and stocked restrooms for the employees.

All employees are to wear face masks and employers must either provide or make provisions for the employees to obtain them.
