May is Mental Health Awareness Month and May 7 is Children’s Mental Health Matters Day.

To participate, wear something green to raise awareness of the importance of children’s mental health and if posting on social media, use the hashtag #breakthestigma.

Each week during the month, students at the elementary, middle and high school levels are able to access grade-level material to support their mental health.

Information is available online at https://walkinourshoes.org/what-is-mental-health/ and includes videos and activities. Para el sitio web en español, vaya a https://ponteenmiszapatos.org/.

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) school psychologists are available for parents and guardians who have concerns about their children’s social, emotional and behavioral development during the school closure.

Parents and guardians should email their child’s school psychologist or counselor. Each school has contact information listed for its psychologist and counselor under Announcements near the bottom of the school’s web page.
