For week seven of Restaurant Revisits, I am checking in with two of my favorites places to have a sip. I wrote about both establishments last year, so now I am providing links to the original articles, and letting you know their current status. In addition, I am giving links to my recent articles with by-county spreadsheets of open (for carryout, curbside, and/or delivery) restaurants.
BlueDyer Distilling Co.
- 52 Industrial Park Drive, #15
- Waldorf, MD
- 301-674-8832
Ryan and Walker from BlueDyer Distilling Co. have done amazing things in a warehouse tucked away in an industrial park. In addition to distilling delicious rum, whiskey and gin, during the pandemic they switched their production to much needed hand sanitizer. Working with local emergency services, they discovered there was a need in the county, and they immediately got to work. The initial production runs were donated to the county. They continue to produce hand sanitizer and offer it for sale to the public at the distillery.
In addition to the hand sanitizer, you can still purchase bottles of rum, whiskey and gin, cocktail mixers by the quart, and cocktails to-go. See their Facebook page and website for additional information.
BlueDyer Distilling Co. also has a fabulous food truck on-site. ChuckWagon Catering offers tacos, burritos, nachos, wings, and fries. The food is fresh and delicious. Order online at www.chuckwagonfood.com. Local delivery can be ordered through Food Scooter, Uber Eats, and Postmates. Before the pandemic, BlueDyer Distilling hosted Food Truck Friday. It was wonderful! Every Friday, four local food trucks served amazing food! The are hoping to get Food Truck Friday up and running by the middle of June!
When the distillery fully re-opens, it is a wonderful place to sip great cocktails, meet friends (both old and new), and dine on fantastic food. I have known Ryan and Walker since they first opened, and they have done great things to the distillery and for the community. Another one of my favorite hang-outs!
BlueDyer hours are Tuesday through Friday 5:00pm to 10:00pm and Saturday/Sunday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm.

Patuxent Brewing Company
- 70 Industrial Park Drive
- Waldorf, MD
- 240-702-2611
Patuxent Brewing Company is still brewing great beer. Owner Davie Feaster has been keeping busy during the pandemic! In addition to serving his usual brews, he has been putting out new releases. In fact, he has three surprise craft brews coming out within the next month. His recent Karol Baskkins craft brew was a big success. He has been selling out of every new release.
Founded in 2014, as a family home brewery, Patuxent Brewing Company is Charles County, Maryland’s first Craft Brewery. Davie and his crew create a variety of brews that are rotated in the taproom. Every visit, you will find different options. Davie has become a friend. He is always smiling, and I love spending time there. I am looking forward to hanging out again soon!
When Charles County enters the next stage of opening (hopefully May 29th) they expect to extend the taproom hours. They are also working on taproom games that will be suitable for social distancing. This is a great idea!
Until they fully re-open, people can order online from the website. They offer 6-packs of cans, crowlers, and growlers. Check out their Facebook page and website for current offerings, ordering and upcoming releases.
Patuxent Brewing hours are Thursday through Sunday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
