St. Mary’s County sheriff’s detectives seized fentanyl, cocaine and a loaded handgun with no serial number while searching a Lexington Park home on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Four people were arrested at the scene, but no one has been charged with possessing what was found inside.

Detectives with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division served search and seizure warrants at a home in the 46000 block of Chapman Drive as part of an ongoing drug investigation, the agency said Oct. 2.

Inside the home, detectives reported finding:

  • 24.2 grams of fentanyl and 43 capsules of a fentanyl mixture
  • 45.3 grams of suspected cocaine and 21.3 grams of crack cocaine
  • 48 Suboxone film packages
  • Six packages of suspected K-2, a synthetic cannabinoid
  • $3,335 in cash
  • A loaded .40-caliber handgun with no serial number

Under Maryland law, it has been generally illegal to possess an unserialized firearm since March 1, 2023. The law targets so-called “ghost guns,” which are often assembled from kits and can’t be traced.

While serving the warrants, deputies encountered several people outside the home. Searches of those people turned up suspected crack cocaine, an unopened box of Suboxone sublingual film with no apparent prescription, and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said. Four people were arrested:

  • Elvis Ray Brien, 35, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Turez Lydell Creek, 38, of Lexington Park, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Justin David Raley, 38, of Lexington Park, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Shameka Levae Harrod, 34, of no fixed address, was arrested on an open warrant for theft.

The sheriff’s office did not say who lives at the home or whether any of the four are connected to what was found inside. None was charged with distribution or with any firearms offense. The investigation remains open, and the agency said more charges or arrests may follow.

Criminal charges are accusations. Everyone charged is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
