Our Weekly Spotlight on the Arts is shining on Rose Heller!

Definitely not your traditional hula hooper, Rose has put her own magical spin on all of her endeavors! As an accomplished Fitness Specialist, Rose intertwines flow artistry with her own unique styles and, of course, with fire…

Having moved to this area from Virginia Beach, Rose quickly become a sought after artist.  She has signed contracts for performances in the Arts & Entertainment District in Leonardtown, organized and led exercise classes at several local active aging facilities, and hosted fitness sessions at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River.

Rose’s unique talents and skills, along with her engaging personality, make for someone who stands out in a crowd – especially when twirling her fire fans! Ms. Heller’s take on staying fit combined with her artistic flair and energetic creativity have led her on an amazing journey of growth and travels, not only as an artist but also as a mother of young children and wife of an active duty service member.

We realize that eventually our talented artist will be leaving but meanwhile we have had the utmost joy of getting to know her and to be able to catch some of her performances. In June, a difficult time for many of our artists due to so many closures and events canceled, Rose was featured in the Leonardtown Virtual Artist Showcase virtual event – catch her video here.

Be sure to add to your calendar her next performance which will be in Downtown Leonardtown for the upcoming First Friday event on September 4th. Bring your lawn chair or blanket for socially distanced seating and a special one-hour performance from 7 to 8 PM in collaboration with the audience participation Drum Circle led by the SoMar Drummers. This is a free show and is part of the Arts & Entertainment First Friday event (details on FB at the page “Leonardtown First Fridays”).

Keep shining Rose, thank you for bringing your unique talents and skills to our area!
