Leonardtown, MD “Leonardtown is excited to invite everyone back to Town. Our local businesses are opening their doors and are happy to safely welcome you back again!”, says Leonardtown Mayor, Daniel Burris.

The Town of Leonardtown launches a Welcome Back Leonardtown Campaign, a collaborative effort from the Commissioners of Leonardtown, the Leonardtown Business Association, St. Mary’s County Arts Council, Visit St. Mary’s Maryland, and St. Mary’s Economic Development, to welcome residents and visitors back to Town for shopping, dining, personal services, and recreational activities.

“As you and your loved ones return to Leonardtown, your safety is our utmost concern.”, continues Mayor Burris. “You’ll find that our businesses are open to 50% capacity with some businesses requiring reservations.” Please visit the individual business websites for more detailed information about openings, including hours of operation and COVID-19 practices.

Please note the following general guidelines that are required for all public spaces:

Face coverings: It is required for residents and visitors to wear masks or face coverings in indoor public areas and stores and on public transportation. It is recommended to wear masks or face coverings in outdoor public places where physical distancing is not possible.

Physical Distancing: Residents and visitors should continue practicing physical distancing of six feet or more outdoors and inside public places.

Spend the day shopping at a variety of eclectic shops, view the work of talented local artists in our art galleries or gather your friends and family for an art workshop where you can create your own work of art to take home, refresh your look with a trim or pamper yourself with a spa day at one of our local beauty salons, take an exercise class in one of the fitness studios in Town or enjoy one of the outdoor group classes at the Leonardtown Wharf or Port of Leonardtown Winery Park, enjoy a gourmet coffee, a glass of wine and/or a meal at one of our area restaurants or cafés. What’s new? You’ll notice that many of our world-class restaurants now have extended outdoor seating areas where you can gather with friends and family for a leisurely meal while enjoying the charm of Leonardtown Square.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love spending the day at one of our beautiful parks. Port of Leonardtown Winery Park is a lush, green park that’s a little off the beaten path, but well worth seeking. A perfect setting for a family picnic or a little stroll. Adventure seekers will want to check out McIntosh Run, a hidden creek set within the park. Rent a kayak or canoe or bring your own to explore the water pathway that opens to Breton Bay and leads to a breathtaking view of the Leonardtown Wharf.

Speaking of the Leonardtown Wharf, this picturesque waterfront with a spectacular view that’s just a short trip down the hill from Leonardtown Square is a must see for any visit to Town. It’s easy to see why this is an immensely popular location for private events and weddings. Outdoor enthusiasts will love spending the day on the water.  Rent a canoe/kayak and spend the day paddling along beautiful Breton Bay, or challenge yourself by trying Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Amenities include a playground, boatslips and a floating dock. Those looking for a more leisurely pace will enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk, sitting on a park bench or packing a picnic and enjoying the view. No matter the pace, you’re sure to love spending the day at the Leonardtown Wharf.
