PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Feb. 8, 2022 – The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) voted today, Feb. 8, 2022, to adopt a proposal from the Calvert County Redistricting Committee to update county commissioner election district boundaries based on 2020 Census Data collected.
The Redistricting Committee reviewed and discussed four proposals before recommending the third proposal option to the BOCC, which is the proposal option the BOCC approved and adopted. The unanimous vote updates the boundaries of all three districts and reflects the following population numbers in each district:
- District 1: 30,253
- District 2: 31,158
- District 3: 31,359
“After weeks of public meetings to receive and respond to citizen input, analyzing data from the 2020 United States Census and deliberation from members of the Redistricting Committee, we adopted a proposal that will allow fair and equal representation for each district,” said BOCC President Earl F. “Buddy” Hance. “This decision ensures that all future voting in Calvert County is truly representative of the people, and we appreciate the efforts of every citizen and committee member that took time to help make this positive change for our county.”
